Now that stills from Sex and the city: the Movie are basically everywhere, I decided to give you my Top 10 reasons why SatC is my favourite series ever. No Desperate Housewives, House M.D. or ER could take over it!
1. The most obvious: the outfits.
2. It is more life-like than my other beloved series. What happens in SatC could happen to anyone.
3. The characters live - you can be like 'hmm, what would Charlotte say' because you feel like you know them as if they were your best friends.
4. Mr. Big - need to say more??
5. The humour, the wittiness.
6. Carrie's famous phrases...
7. It's located in NYC - perfect for the series. And oh, I love NY!!
8. The way the girls handle problems - they never give up.
9. The love and acceptance between them is enviable. They really know, understand, respect and adore each other and would do anything for their friends. Even for the loveable gay guys.
10. Because Aleksandr Petrovsky is the One for me. Too bad he doesn't exist.
When I saw this MANGO handbag for the first time, my first thought was, 'Fendi!'. I remembered this Fendi Multicolor Convertible "To You" Bag and decided the Mango bag was at least a bit inspired by it:

This is the Fendi one.

And the Mango version.
Yes, I know they don't show much resemblance but for the first glipmse I thought they did for two reasons:
1. they are multicolor
2. both of them are convertible (you can wear both of them as clutches and as handbags)
The more I compare them the less they look similar though. :)
I think prefer the Mango bag because it's more me, it's not original leather and I like it's shape better. I haven't an envelope clutch yet so it would be perfect.
The only problem is, what to wear it with. Because of the colours, it won't look good with everything. But I am so much in love with it that I don't care. After all, it can go with jeans and, for example, a black top, can't it?
I can already hear my mom say it's darn ugly but I think it's cool and practical... The only question is, is it roomy enough to bear all my stuffs for school???

I must confess, I feel very lucky. I've been looking for a song for a very long time and found someone who sent it to me. Not a usual thing nowadays that people are actually kind with and to each other. So that's the reason why I am swimming in joy.
I heard a line of the Bing Crosby song May I? for the first time in The Talented Mr. Ripley and I got impressed. And now that I actually have the song, I can say it's just as perfect and beautiful as I have expected whenever I was listening to the line 'May I be the only one to say I really fell in love the day I first set eyes on you'.
Now I possess numerous Crosby songs and I would like to promote you some of them.
First of all, what I love about him and his work is that the songs have their own atmosphere. While listening to Mr. Crosby you feel like you were in an old movie or at least next to the singer himself - now that's what I call time travel!
His voice is unbelievable, I could listen to it for ever. It's like he was singing next to me or directly to me, so he makes the audience feel very close to him. The lyrics are no exception: they are excellent and express feelings we all have but are unable to express this beautifully.
Even the titles are inspiring, thought-wakening and impressive. My other favourites are On Treasure Island, Someone Stole Gabriel's Horn, Try a Little Tenderness and Two Cigarettes in the Dark.
I also recommend you all to check out the website of The International Club Crosby. Their magazine is marvellous as well, and the club is the world's longest-running fan club (it was founded in 1936)!

That's what I like about music and culture and 'style' itself that includes it all - you can never know who you meet. Now I met Bing Crosby though I've seen him a couple of times before, but it's only now that I recognised how great he was. And how great he IS, since he remains with us forever through his fabulous art.
I finally managed to get my little hands on these Promod round toe ballerina slippers that I've been drooling over for ages. I love the '60s style of it and I think they even have a jazz and '20s vibe. Since I don't like Oxfords (they are well-designed but would look like hell on me), I prefer this style in ballerinas.

Oh, and I love the material. And it's also a good point that these slippers have heels (approx. 2.5cms) so I can also wear them when the weather gets rainy but not rainy enough to wear boots.
And now that I've mentioned boots...

This pair is vintage and it impressed me because it's not particularly western, it's not knee-lenght, it's not tight (it's not a big thing since I have thin legs but in this style it would look awful if the boots were tight) and brown. Since I didn't own any brown boots, it was simply perfect.
One thing I love about designer items is that they sell the best (and the most) dresses. And two thing I hate is 1. I can't buy them, at least not all of them and it is impossible to choose only one 2. this is something high street brands don't follow them in - where are those pretty cocktail dresses when I need them??
Of course, when it is prom season, there are plenty of cocktail beauties out there. But now, when the new collection arrives to the stores, I am sad to discover that my favourite high street stores fail to satisfy my thirst for a well-designed dress.
But, as always, Mango is the one I can count on. This dress is available in black and purple and it's lovely, sophisticated, and halter neck is back, isn't it? I think if I choose this one, I'll opt for the coloured version, it's not that obvious (when it comes to an event, LBD is the most usual and the tailoring of this dress is nothing special. But who wants to blend in and be usual istead of being unique, attention-attracting yet elegant??)

But it seems I can't let the LBD go. I love the tailoring and the strap of this one:

Another favourite:

It looks better on the runway though, I guess because the model's tights are opaque:

Some '20s chic - now that's what I call cool and gorgeous!

Note: this dress is originally sans belt but it's less pretty without that.

For your information: this is a high street brand.
I used to like New Yorker because they used to sell definitely cool and young clothes. But I have lost my interest in them, I don't know why. I still find some great things there, but most of the products are too young (10-15 year old, 'emos' wear them) or too simple (okay, they're still good when it comes to basics though).
So it turns out that the only thing they are still good at, and let me say, they get better and better at is accesories.
I love this scarf, it's similar to the one Jessica Stam wore at a concert:

I also like this bag, it's nothing special yet it has a slight 'it bag' vibe, or something like that:

New Yorker has another fault: their website is as terrible as possible. Not only it is sometimes impossible to get to the Collections page, their so-called showrooms are awful as well. Seriously, I don't want to see a 15 year old girl winking and smiling in a catalogue like in some cheap model portfolio, I want to see the clothes!
Anyway, image credits (except for the gorgeous Stam pic): New Yorker.de
When it comes to skincare products, I become a little partial and say two names: Nivea and Cléo.
The first one is known by everyone and I think everyone truts Nivea. Even my mother, who has extraextraextra sensitive skin uses Nivea products because they don't make her break out or anything.
But I am not sure everyone knows Cléo. Cléo products are made in Italy by wonderful company Paglieri and the brand is my favourite for numerous reasons. For example, and this is the most important, they don't lie. The products are definitely useful and work well and give you what is promised on the package. If they say it's moisturising than you can be sure it isn't something else.
I know it's the same with bigger companies but still, Cléo better is better. I've already mentioned the package but I haven't said how pretty it was. And the scent of the products is equally great.
My two favourite products are the Tonificante body lotion and the Scrub esfoliante (facial scrub) with kiwi.
You could possibly find out by the name that the products contain yoghurt and usually something else, like, aloe vera or chocolate (just how cool is that?? :) ).
If you buy it at Schlecker, and you happen to have a Schlecker card, you can buy for less. For example, the aforementioned body lotion cost me only €3 instead of €3.99.
Must-try!!!!!!!

Just like millions of others, I've been in love with James Blunt's music ever since You're beautiful hit the radio stations. Later, when his album got released, I happened to realize You're beautiful was not his best song at all (so basically, he's different from many artists who have one hit that sells the album) - Goodbye my Lover, Billy, Out of my mind... just to mention a few. Okay, actually, I adore that album inside and outside, and no matter how many times I listen to it, I just can't get enough. So it's quite understandable that I've been waiting for this for so long - his new album, All the lost souls is out today!
The first single, 1973 suggested it would be a bit different and I couldn't decide whether it was a good or bad change. It's understandable he wanted something else - just like in the case of The White Stripes after Elephant, for James after Back to Bedlam there was really nothing more he could have achieved in the same style since he has already created something that was the best of the best.
In my opinion though, 1973 is too Coldplay-ish. There were many comparisons back when his debut album got released but I think that was way more unique. I don't say 1973 is a bad song, no way, it's good but compared to his previous ones, it's hardly anywhere. But since his first ever single wasn't the best either, I still had hope in him.
On the album, the second song, One of the brightest stars returns to the perfect roots, and it's simply beautiful. It is so good actually, that while listening to All the lost souls for the first time, I didn't care if it was only the second track, I listened to it once more. It was the same with the Same mistake, Carry you home, Give me some love and I could go on - I am already unable to choose a favourite song, they are sooooo marvellous!!! So it seems that's his recipe to success: that the first single is only an aperitif. In brief, the titles, the artwork, the lyrics and above all, the voice are still wonderful. And the songs? They are great as well. It always takes some time to examine and fully understand them, to make them be suitable for your own life and emotions. I definitely give him 5 out of 5 stars - another material I won't be able to get bored of.

It's quite rare that many outfits inspire me at the same time but hey, normally I look at, like, 50 outifts and I feel lucky if I find one that is inspiring to me.
But not this time, no no... It was enough to check two of my fave celeb blogs and I managed to find 3 celebs in 3 cool outfits.

I found this pic of Kate Bosworth on JustJared. She was walking with her model boyfriend and it seems to me that since they've been dating, Kate's style improved a lot. This look is something everyone can try (okay, some might say skinny jeans is not good for every shape but thank God it is definitely cool when it comes to my body), it's sweet street chic.

Wow, Diane Kruger looks stunning all the time, just how can it be????!?!?! Anyway, this outfit is a little bit harder to imitate because the white top's tailoring is sophisticated and it can not be found anywhere. But hey, if you can't find something similar to that top, use something else and not only it will look great, it will also be more unique!

Peaches Geldof was spotted in London, looking cool, again. Her outfit is quite classy yet experimental. I will never try to wear something like this because I don't think I would feel comfortable. But she has the attitude to pull it off perfectly so if anyone feels like giving it a try, do it! :)Images of Diane and Peaches: via Splash News
For your information, I am a huge Picasso fan. So huge actually that I am prone to spend fortunes on memorabilia related to him. But somehow, my favourite Picasso merchandise of all (if you can call it merchandise anyway) is a DVD that cost me no more than €10 (I bought it a year ago right after it was released and since it is quite a rare and unknown picture, it's extraordinary that it was so cheap). The title of the movie is Adventures of Picasso (originally Picassos äventyr), a Swedish movie starring Gösta Ekman and Lena Olin, directed by Tage Danielsson.

It is, in my opinion, THE best movie ever made about Picasso, because it can measure up to him more than any other film based on his life and/or art. And though Anthony Hopkins (one of my favourite actors, so I respect him a lot) look more Picasso-ish in Surviving Picasso, I would say the Adventures of Picasso and Gösta Ekman are more Picasso to me, even if the movie itself is not authentic and Picasso was anything but that shy in real life when it came to women... But maybe this is the key to it, the humour that Pablo never ceased to use and the fact that Picasso's works LIVE, unlike any ohter artist's masterpieces (not even Salvador Dalí could create a world Picasso managed to create in only a few moments).

And though the paintings shown in the movie are not original (I mean, they do not look like the original ones) and are not necessarily based on any original paintings, the film makes us understand what it could mean to be Picasso and how he could consider being Picasso (remember his /in/famous quote, "now there is fame! Of all—hunger, misery, the incomprehension by the public—fame is by far the worst. It is the castigation of God by the artist. It is sad. It is true").
Believe me, it is worth watching and purchasing. Not only because it contains 10 languages (so there is no such thing as synchronizing, thank God!) and not only beacuse the movie itself is one of the best motion pictures of all time (it is a cult movie for those who know it) but because the DVD also contains some fabulous extra features, including two documentaries on him (Picasso and the world and Picasso and women) and we can sing the famous Sirkka song with Sirkka herself, or try to perform it alone, thanks to the karaoke video. There is also a feature, it's called Follow the white dove! - while watching the movie many fun facts can be read about Pablo and the movie itself.
So, Picassos äventyr is truly genious - just like Pablo himself, claims the tagline of the DVD and I totally agree with it.
Phew, it seems H&M just can't get enough of topmodels - first Anja and Freja, and now we have DariaWerbovy as the face of the F/W '07-08 season... The pictures seem a bit more original than the ones with Anja&Freja&Tasha and I also find them more beautiful and winterlike.
After all, Daria is cool and the clothes are great - what else could I ask for? (Well, actually, I could ask for an H&M store in my city - we only have one in the capital, sooo unfair!!)

Venice has always been the IT place for me - I love New York, I love London, but no other city had this much impact on me.
And being a self-confessed pop culture fanatic (though my media teacher would not really be happy hearing this...) who's especially into valuable music, films, literautre and fashion (yes, that exists in pop culture too) and finally, being a brit pop admirer, it is no surprise that I have found my IT shop in Venice.

Oh yes, everything started with The Beatles... I think I have a special connection with them (I share my b-day with Sir McCartney!!), maybe that's the reason I'm totally infatuated with britpop?? And this shopwindow (okay, almost every single shopwindow in Venice, even the baker's window) is like a museum, so arty, so perfect, so desirable (at least for me. My mother wasn't really fool for it)... I want every single piece from that store!!!

Of course, other pop cultural icons, just like the fabulous Betty Boop are also available in the store, in various forms of merchandise.
If you wanted to know where the shop is, well... that's a good question. Somewhere between Bridge Rialto and the train station. Seriously, despite the fact that I've been to Venice countless times, I still can't tell where the coolest shops are (okay, except for the high fashion stores.) - you just wander around and voilá, they're in front of you, again and again!!
I must confess, the happiness I am in right now measures up to winning an Oscar - the reason? It's quite simple: Jon Stewart, my favourite comedian, the man I love to death with or without his (in)famous The Daily Show, will host the Academy Awards for the second time next year.
To me, who is notoriously absent from school after the day of the ceremony (in Hungary, the show begins at 1:00 am or even later), it is absoultely good news since he is my favourite host of all time. I might be partial, but no Whoopi Goldberg, Billy Crystal (though I admire and like him as well) or Ellen (oh, Ellen, I adore her, she's my... well, second fave comedian) could feel me better while watching the Academy Awards. Jon is wonderful, he's exceptionally funny, he's very celever and intelligent (the two's not the same you know) and he also has the looks.
I can't wait 'til Feb 24, not only because Jon will be the host, but because I hope most, or at least some of my favourite movie stars will attend the ceremony as nominees...

Well, considering I originally didn't want to blog about fashion week (everyone blogs about it and I just did not want to make the list), it's pretty tough that this one's gonna be my... third (?) post about it.
But I just couldn't stand it, the dresses and collections are sooo beautiful and/or cool. And seriously, when I set my eyes upon Oscar de la Renta's creations, it would have been a sin not to write about it since it captured me so much.

I can't help but love this dress, though I am not really into bold prints. But I could imagine myself wearing it so that means I fell for it, maybe the tailoring, it would definitely flatter my shape, maybe the colors, oh, I love the colors... So sophisticatedly fun.

This one is a bit conservative but trés chic. Perfect for an elegant yet not that elegant downtown party.

When I saw this dress, my first thought was 'Saint-Tropez'. I don't know why, but the dress looks so French and so fresh to me, pure perfection.

Now, when I got to see this gown, it took my breath away. I love everything about it, the tiny details that make it look excellent and impeccable.
So what else to say? Oscar de la Renta is still one of the best.

There was a time when the ultimate supermodels were Naomi, Linda, Claudia... And then there was Kate Moss. Okay, there IS Kate Moss. But nowadays, when new faces come and go faster than we could note their faces, who deserves to be called a supermodel? Or, who is a supermodel?
I could never get Gisele Bündchen, I don't know why she tops the list of the highest paid models... And then, I ador Gemma Ward, Lily Cole (where is she? haven't seen her in, like, ages!), even Stella Tennant.
But none of them could make me feel what I feel for Jessica Stam. She has become my fave model in no time, with her charisma and beautiful blue eyes. Models don't have to be beautiful, we all know that. But Stam definitely is, with odd looks and doll face.

She makes me feel what is pretty rare in the fashion industry in the 21st Century: she's not just a "living coathanger", she's an entity.

And it's good to know I'm not alone with that... After all, Marc Jacobs thinks the same (if he didn't, he wouldn't have named a bag after her...), and what better companion to wish myself then the genuine Mr. Jacobs???

From this day on, I adore J. Mendel. It's something like the crush I had on Tracy Reese about a year ago. Really, what Gilles Mendel created for next Spring and Summer, is simply wonderful. I would wear 90% of his collection.
And still, I am into dresses.

I know, whatever Stam wears is beautiful because she herself is impeccably beautiful. But even if we (try to) ignore her, the dress is so angel-like, flowing and I think it flatters most body shapes.

I love this outfit, it's so '20s. I can't say anything of it but one word: perfect.

Mendel loves to design romantic clothes and this one is a great example of that. No matter who you are, if you appear on a date in this dress, you'll be impressive. At least I think so.

It's a bit ancient like, maybe Roman or Greek? Or a bit both? Anyway, it's a masterpiece. Actually, it has only one 'fault': it only flatters skinny or 'almost skinny' (you know, healthily thin) girls. I wonder if it flattered me if I had the chance to try it on (or wear it!! that would be 7th heaven indeed)...

I just hate it when I am asked who my fashion icons are and am always quite surprised when others can easily answer the question. The turth is, in my opinion, my fashion icon would be someone whose outfits almost ALWAYS impress me (okay, no-one's perfect so I could forgive some faults, after all, being a fashion icon means you also have to take risks...). But who to say? Sienna Miller? Oh, sometimes she's too much for me. Kate Moss? Yes, the "ultimate fashion icon" but there are things I can't relate to, for example, vests (okay, waistcoats), because I think my face is way too masculine and wearing a vest... not only it would not flatter my figure but it would make me look even more man-ish. The Olsens? Haha. They're fashionforward and all, but if I entered the street in a "normal" Olsen outfit, people would laugh their bottom off (just to stay away from being vulgar).
But still, I do like some or let me say, many of their outfits. I also like Mischa Barton though she is not really my style, but she (or her stylist) can put together some stuff I like. You know, being a student means you can't dress like Paris Hilton 24/7 (even you wanted to. I wouldn't.). Wearing towering heels would totally devastate my feet since most of the time I have classes on the 5th floor and the elevator is sooo slow, you get there sooner on foot.
The point of all this is, probably that's why I like quirky outfits that are casual yet good looking, and has the "oh, I've just put these old stuffs on..." vibe. And the "queens" of this style, in my very humble opinion are Kirsten Dunst (who sometimes does it so well it looks horrible) and Keira Knightley.
I wouldn't say I love Kirsten Dunst. I've heard a lot of mean things of her and I wouldn't even say she's beautiful. But I can connect to girls who aren't natural born beauties (remember, I also like Peaches Geldof for a similar reason) but I do adore some of her outfits. They're not original or anything new, but she looks so good when wearing them, I couldn't stand but post:

I love the skinny jeans+Converse sneakers+Chanel bag combination. As I had said, not particularly new but I love it since it's something anyone can wear (I know, not anyone can wear a Chanel bag, but still) and it will look good. That's why I like her more than Sienna, because sometimes she wears things she can wear, people will like bacuse she's famous and is considered a fashion icon, but in my country, where overbleached, disgustingly cheap and sans-quality jeans and itsy-bitsy tops are still in (according to many of the clearly non-fashion conscious people who heavily consider themselves fashion-conscious, of course), they'd think I have traveled in time and got here from the '60s.

This outfits looks so dirty yet I think it's wuite sophisticated with the scarf and the bag and the Wayfarers (she just can't get enough of them!). It's the kind of 'I am young, I am in college, I can do and wear anything' look.
I am partial when speaking of Keira Knightley. She's British, has the British-style that I just adore and I also have a thing for her British accent (I've heard a lot of British women speak and she has the best British accent I have ever had, amongst women. When it comes to men, my best accent choice is Jude Law). So I just love her though I don't really watch her movies (I think I have only seen the POTC trilogy, The Jacket, Love Actually and King Arthur... shame on me?) and here are some of my fave outfits of hers:

So British, so cool, so happy. Need to say more?

One of the many reasons I wanted (and thankfully found and bought) a pair of denim shorts like this one was to wear it with opaque thights this fall. And I love it how she pulls it off. Something anyone could find out but it works for her and makes me want to try it myself. And she loves those boots, has been wearing them a lot. I have a similar pair, they're vintage and a bit shorter.

This is an old pic but I like it because she managed to show her own style with the fedora and the scarf yet she wears a not-really-feminine blazer. But the heels make it look perfectly grownup and lady-like.
So yes, I like them all, but they're not my fashion icons, they're just my "fashion inpirations". I think being an universal fahsion icon is okay, but being someone's fashion icon is more difficult. But no matter, I like seeing new girls in fun outfits and add them to my fictional inspiration list. You can never know...
I don't know why, but when it comes to fashion shows, let it be haute couture or ready-to-wear, I always seem to have a thing for gowns. So now, during New York Fashion Week, I checked out the collections shown so far and picked up my favourite gowns.

Badgley Mischka's creations were stunning as always (that is one reason why I just can't understand how they could choose Teri Hatcher to be their new face...). The first dress reminds me of a marshmallow, but it's so sweet I couldn't resist. The second and third dresses are simply elegant and classy, yet they have something unique about them.

This Carlos Miele gown is simply perfect - I don't say I have never seen anything like this before, but it captured me so much, I think I could stare at it for minutes...

Oh, Marchesa... The brand that desings many of the world's most beautiful gowns (along with the retiring Valentino, of course). Almost all of the dresses are excellent and I can totally imagine them on stars at the Academy Awards, or the Golden Globes... Why, oh why can't I just be someone very very famous to get these clothes FREE?? It's so unfair. No, really.

When it came to dress up my boringly white&red notebook for University (oh, how I love the privilege of having only ONE notebook to school instead of multiple notebooks, workbooks and student's books), I immediately thought I would use fashion images. It's not that big surprise since I adore arty fashion shots but it is surprising that I didn't think of some other pop cultural pictures as decorations. Okay, I couldn't stand using a PETA2 sticker though, but hey, it's so sweet and after all, I am their devoted member!!
So most of the pictures are from different magazines, I can't even recall where they are from exactly, but I can name a few: the clown girl pics and the shot of the girl lying on the table are from Italian Glamour, the Irina pic on the top is from Glamour UK. That's all, I think the rest is from Hungarian magazines, like Elle and Joy.
I know, the quality is anything but best, so here is a better view of the bottom:

Another rest in peace post. Last week it was the 10th anniversary of Princess Diana's death, and now Luciano Pavarotti died. He passed away after a very long battle with pancreatic cancer.
I remember how sad I was when I heard he would never sing again and how devastated I was when José Carreras said the famous three tenors (Carreras, Pavarotti and Placido Domingo) would never get on stage without any of them because all of them are irreplaceable.
But that emotions were nothing compared to this, because the world lost someone impeccably wonderful - his voice, his smile, his style, his elegance, his relationship with us, mere mortal admirers - we lost Luciano Pavarotti, one of the world's most famous opera singers and no-one will ever be able to make the pain of loss go away.

It is not quite usual that a novel becomes the symbol of a whole era, and it is even rarer that named novel remains so extremely popular after the official "fall" or passing of the generation it was written for/about.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest or The Catcher in the Rye might be influential and cultic, but in my humble opinion the two ultimate novels that make the list of masterpieces I have mentioned above are Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thomson and On the Road by Jack Kerouac.
On the Road "celebrates" (if a novel can celebrate... it's author surely can't anyway, unless in Heaven) its 50th anniversary today (September 5) so this is the reason of this post, at least, the main reason.
What makes On the Road unique is its quirky humour, odd acts and weirdly loveable characters. It perfectly represents the Beat Genetation with all its problems. The novel is largely autobiographical hence many things, characters features in it are real, or are inspired by existing persons. I think it is even more fun to read it knowing almost all of it happened and looking up the real people behind the aliases can be really exciting.
Empty Mirror Books has a list of Kerouac's characters, with the real and fictional names. You can check this list by clicking HERE.
So do I have to tell the story? I think you already know all of that. If not, you can guess it by the title: it's the story of Mr. Kerouac's (and his occasional and all-time friends', including Dean Moriarty /Neal Cassady in reality/, who has since become something very much like an icon due to this novel) road trips across mid-century America. If you haven't read it yet, hurry up, I assure you it will be an eternal experience.

There are also legends of how/why/where/when he wrote the book and even the life of Kerouac was interesting, not only because of his inner circle and pals (including many if not all of the greatest names of the generation, from Allen Ginsberg to Ken Kesey) but because of all his wanderings and thoughts. I also like it about him that he changes style when writing - for example, his other novel, The Subterraneans is written in an absoultely different yet overwhelming style, but still, it has the characteristics of Kerouac himself (this novel followed On the Road in 1958).

If you want to see him with someone else's eyes, read the book that was written by his daughter, Jan Kerouac and is basically a reaction to On the Road. It's entitled Baby Driver and though it is called "semi-autobiographical", it is just as interesting to read and it's plain to see there are many autobiographical acts in it, especially when she talks about her relationship with her father.

I am feeling terrible heartaches - after45 years in fashion, Valentino, one of the ultimate fashion designers, the one who's influenced our beloved world so much and for so long, decided to retire.
Not to make it that hard (or to make it even harder??) to accept, he stated he'll design (actually, I guess, has already designed at least one) two more collections for his fantastic brand: one Ready-to-wear (it will be shown in October during Paris Fashion Week), and one final haute couture, due to be shown in January.
The 74 year-old designer told PEOPLE: "At this time, I have decided that is the perfect moment to say adieu to the world of fashion. As the English say, I would like to leave the party when it is still full."
The rumour has Gucci designer and fellow Italian Alessandra Facchinetti will be the new creator of Valentino. I don't know if she's good for that, Gucci is so different from Valentino, but anyway, if Karl could do it to his brands, why couldn't Allessandra do it as well? Okay, she's definitely not Karl and sadly not Valentino himself, but at least there's hope that we'll see more of the most beautiful dresses in the world - this time with the name, but without the dreamings of Signor Valentino Garavani.

PEOPLE
Just how cute is this Baci & Abbracci ad? When I scanned it my brother told me he had this pic without the B&A signal on it, so I guess it wasn't originally shot for the brand, but still, it flatters the name: Baci & Abbracci means Kisses & Embraces, and wow, I fell in love with this picture.
Love at firsth sight. And hey, the guy looks like James Dean, doesn't he??
I was wandering in the local Douglas store and decided to check out some perfumes. I am about to run out of mines at home so it was time to look for new supplies.
I had to discover that some of the creations have pretty similar smell (and no, it was not just my nose being confused. Believe me.)...
First I went to DKNY, because I adore her Be delicious thing. I am still a devoted fan of DKNY but with DKNY Woman, well, I was kinda disappointed...
Then, I was taken aback when I realized they stopped selling one of my favourite scents of all time - Moschino's I Love Love... :(:( But Funny! was literally much fun - maybe this one will be my supply. Sooo perfect and the bottle itself (not to mention the ad, below) is just overwhelming.

I also 'tried on' Kate Moss's perfume and let me say, I didn't get it. It's so simple, nothing remarkable. So sad... :(

And then, I went to my other fave scent - Armani Code For Her (originally, I fell in love with the For Him version, back when For Her was not available. I was so infatuated with it that I used my brother's Code to keep my clothes balmy). I knew I was going to be impressed because it was the 10000th time I smelled it. Then, just above Code I saw Nina Ricci's Nina. I loved the bottle and I love Nina Ricci so I tried it. It smelled good from the bottle, but when actually blowing it on my skin it was not that good. Don't get me wrong, it is a good fragrance, but it's just not my style.

I wanted to check Givenchy's Ange ou Démon, so I looked it up. When trying it, my first thought was: "it's just like Armani Code!" I blew it on a tester paper, along with Paco Rabanne's Black XS and Code. I found these three extremely similar, in the store, on my way home and at home. It's not just confusion, not the fault of my nose - they show much resemblance! And since this is my style, I just cannot choose between the three fragrances, the are so sweet and similar.

So seriously, I don't know... But I think I am likely to opt for Funny! because it's more unique (at least, I haven't found any similar ones yet, not that I am a regular fragrance tester...) and has this light femininity in itself, unlike the aforementioned three fragrances, that have the 'femme fatale' kind of femininity in themselves. But, thinking it over, who doesn't want to be (or at least smell like) a femme fatale?
Wallis asked six celebrities (Scarlett Johansson, Kate Moss, Catherine Tate, Christian Louboutin, Stephen Webster and Grayson Perry) to design them a charm for their charity necklace (the sequel of the 2005 hit of the celebrity charm charity bracelet), in aid of Cancer Research UK. It's only £25.00 (£10 of the price go towards Cancer Research UK).
Let me say it's a beautiful necklace, what a pity I cannot buy it since it is only available in the UK and is not available to me, poor little Hungarian...

Supermodels Freja Beha Erichsen and Anja Rubik are the new faces of H&M, Freja is both in the new collection's ad campaign and on the cover of the latest H&M magazine. They are not the only models for H&M though, they have an other female companion, Tasha Tilberg:

And despite I love the shots and outfits, I can't help but think it is something very much like Chloé's F/W 07-08 ads, also starring Miss Freja and Anja (along with Shalom Harlow). The whole three-girls-dancing-and-having-fun thing is similar and maybe it's intentional, maybe it's not, I don't know but still, it's kinda suspicious. Anyway, both campaigns are great in the minimal-art, less-is-more way. Kudos!

I have mentioned Mango's F/W collection before but now that the pictures are finally online, I decided to show some of my favourites.
First of all, this dress, that is already in my city's Mango store's shopwindow:
. But I have to admit, it looks worse in this picture than on the mannequin or on the runway model below:

I guess this is because of the belt... No matter, I haven't tried it on yet but even if it looks better with the belt, I will not buy the one the model is wearing because that's a leather belt. Nevermind.
Then, my favourite pair of jeans. It's called Bianca and I want in this traditional denim shade, because I already have skinny jeans in all the other available shades.

I also like this tee, it's arty and very romantic in the 19th century meaning:

Then, the must-have knitted dress:
. It's wonderful and all, but H&M has a similar (and even better looking) one for, ahem, almost half the price:

And, last but not least, the Crystal Renn shots (actually, some of them):

Just how skinny she looks in these pics!?!?! I mean, compared to herself.

Net-a-porter has a new feature on their site about the pea coat. They share the story of this type of coat in brief and also give some tips of how to wear them. I must confess, these tips are not new to me, I've experienced almost all of them, because I have a pea coat as well (yes, only one, in black but now I'm planning to buy one in a lighter shade) and I a-d-o-r-e it. It's simply perfect, and, according to this article, eternal.

This one is by MINT jodi arnold and this longer black coat is by Paul&Joe:
